2003 NMRA Pure Street Champ Darin Hendricks was interested in Coyote Stock the first time he heard the details. He entered his 1993 Cobra in CS competition at the Bowling Green event in 2013. At the 2014 MIR race, Darin became the second racer in the 10.40s.

800Darin Race 21993 SVT Cobra:

Darin’s car is a real 1993 SVT Cobra, with just a shade over 21,000 miles on the odometer. Darin bought the car when it was nearly new and put most of those miles on it driving to and from the race track. He previously campaigned the car in Pure Street, but hung up his driver’s shoes in 2007 and sold the car. The new owner promptly began converting the Cobra back to stock specs, removing all of the racing modifications except the roll bar. Eventually, he lost interest and Darin reacquired the car in 2010- immediately setting to work re-converting it to race duty. His car is one of very few real 93 Cobras in all-out drag competition, and probably the only one that’s been turned into a race car twice!

People occasionally give him a hard time for turning a real Cobra into a race car, but he says that doesn’t bother him. “It’s what I love to do. If I left it stock, it’d probably just be sitting around collecting dust …”
