Longtime NMRA racer, and Factory Stock National Champion Michael Washington, made a splash in Coyote Stock, heading to the final round at his second race. When asked what he liked best about Coyote stock, Mike managed to narrow it to:

“One word—Coolness! Seriously, the exposure this class has garnered has made it a no-brainer. Tons of former World Champs, Ford Racing’s direct involvement, slicks, and wheels-up, gear-banging launches!”

Washington - Lanes1990 Mustang GT/ 1993 Mustang “Cobra”:

Mike purchased his GT when it only had 45,000 miles, with the express intent of making it a racer. He entered it in Fun Ford Weekend’s Street Stang class in 2004. However, to run the class with his GT-40 headed Cobra motor, he had to install the matching Cobra body kit. It was worth the effort, — he won the FFW Englishtown event. FFW changed the class from heads-up to a bracket eliminator, so Mike brought the car back to the class where he’d previously won a championship; NMRA Factory Stock. In 2006, he drove it to good effect with record setting ETs and qualifying in the #1 spot twice. Since then, the car has had its share of drivers, with fellow NMRA Factory Stock Champions Tommy Godfrey and Justin Burcham taking turns behind the wheel. In 2013 Mike decided to give up Factory Stock for Coyote Stock.

In CS trim, the GT-turned Cobra runs very well with one of the earliest sealed 5.0 Coyotes (according to NMRA CS Warden Frank Hoffman), as well as a G-force enhanced T-5, SPEC clutch, JLT True Cold Air kit, and American Racing Headers exhaust. UPR suspension rides up front with Team Z parts in the rear.
